Why solve equations when you can solve FUNCTIONAL equations?

Functional equations are just equations where the unknown is a function, but the proofs their solutions involve are pretty fascinating. We went through a couple of typical functional equation examples and proved solutions to the famous Cauchy functional equation over rational and real numbers.
